First of all, sorry for talking so long to put up a new post. We have been with very limited Internet access at a weak signal at the best. So, I will spend the next few posts catching up on information and pictures.
We have had a very interesting weekend. But to start with, last week we were in Williston, ND and we had a wonderful time. We spent much of the week refreshing old friendships and introducing the Mercy Ships ministry to many different people and places. The best part of the week was spending time with Mike's 91 year old father. It has been a very special time to be able to see him again and to sit and talk with him. Then it was time for the weekend.
This last weekend was Mike's hometown, Froid, MT, centennial celebration. Mike remembers marching in Froid's 50th anniversary celebration, so we planned our trip so we would be able to be at the 100th anniversary celebration.
Froid is a town of about 196 people in the NE corner of Montana-about 40 miles from the Canadian border and 24 miles from the North Dakota boarder. It maybe a small town but it has big personality and a huge heart! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Mike's brother and sister-in-law (Tim and Sharon) and getting together with old friends.
One of the beautiful aspects of the Froid area is the country side. A person can look for miles and miles and miles and see only open fields.
When you first drive into Froid you have to enter between the elevators...yes they are still used today.
An old windmill that was on display for the centennial. Mike says it reminds him of the one they used to have on the farm when he was growing up.
The kids and an old fire truck.
The kids renewed old friendships as spent the day riding around on four-wheelers and the cart...they had so much fun, it was hard for them to leave!
Finally-Happy 4th of July....
Throughout the weekend we had a "good 'ol" small town parade, antique car show, fashion show...and lots of fun...stay tuned for more...
