"The Tailor pt. 3..."

It is really wonderful that when Mercy Ships pulls into a port, we not only make a difference in the lives of the patients and day volunteers.  We also make a difference in the lives of some of the local people.

I have done two other blogs on Foday the tailor and his shop.  This one, for me, is really exciting.  Since Foday has been coming to the ship, he has been able to raise enough money to purchases an embroidery machine.

For most people in the west, this is really no big accomplishment-just pay on credit and it is done.  There is no credit for "mom and pop" businesses in West Africa.  Cash is the only way. Foday told me a few weeks ago he had enough to purchases this machine.  Embroidery on traditional clothing is very stylish.  This means, Foday can now bring a new level of excellence to his clients.  It means another person can be employed.  Foday shared with me he is hiring his friend, who knows how to do embroidery, to come and work at his shop.

I am so thrilled that we were able to play a small part in increasing the quality of business Foday is able to offer his clients.
