"Tani..."

Tani is an inspiring young girl.  The first time I met her was in the ward just before her surgery in Togo during the 2010 field service.  She was somewhat shy at first, but it did not take her long to climb onto my lap and begin to colour and trace numbers and letters.  Even though she did not speak English, we managed to communicate quite well.

When Tani was a baby, there was a fire in her house and she was not able to get rescued in time before she was badly burned.  Inspite of her injuries from the fire, she is a lively, adorable, vivacious young girl.  Tani captures your heart with her smile.
Before surgery.
Healing from surgery on the ward.

Getting ready to go home.  Until her next surgery is scheduled.  She will have a few more plastic surgeries to continue to rebuild the damage from her burns.
She loves to take pictures of other people.
