"Jeffa Clinic..."

Today, Mike had the privilege and honour of being able to preach again. Instead of the regular church we have been attending, the pastor invited Mike to preach at the sister church in a village called Jeffa. After the service, the pastor took us next door to the community clinic. I am unsure whether or not the church helps support this clinic, but it is supported and run by one of the church members. The main emphasis of this clinic is to help provide safe care to the community at a reasonable cost. A person can buy the medication they need off of the streets, however, it is expensive and not safe. So the clinic provides the medicine, vaccinations, basic obstetric care and midwifery. This is the delivery room. As you can see, it does not meet the western clinical standards. However, for this area it is more than sufficient. It also provides a cleaner/safer environment than the surrounding community. This is the room where vaccinations are administered. Once again, it is simple but clean. This is the hospital area. As you can see there is no medical equipment...but the owner and her husband work very hard to meet the needs of the community. The lady in the middle is the owner. She is a nurse and a midwife. The two gals in blue are her assistants. They all work very hard to see that the community needs are met.
