It was such a blessing to be able to see so many wonderful animals in their natural habitat. The game reserve we went to was about 3 hours from where we live at Appelsbosch. It is one of the oldest game reserves that was established in 1895. Originally it was used for only the Zulu kings private hunting grounds. The sad part is the area has been in a drought for around nine years. This year being the worst of all the years...as you can see in the following pictures, even the river beds are dry.
These are two of the oldest elephants in the park.
Water buffalo
Giraffe
Impala
Guinea Fowl
Nyala
Baboon and her baby
Mama Rhino and her baby.
Warthog

Kudu
Zebra
Lion in the distance in a dry water bed.
Then we had an opportunity to go to St. Lucia for a river tour or hippos and crocodiles. In the area there were about 800 Hippos and many crocodiles (Basically I cannot remember how many the guide said...)
Crocodile...
Really?...
Hippo
Looking at all the animals, it was amazing to see the diversity of creation and God's sense of humor. It just makes a person appreciate that a wonderful world we do live in!
and no...
the crocodile was not alive...the tour guide had just the head...)
